Emerging Payments Awards Names All Finalists Joint Winners of the Outstanding Women in PayTech Award

Professionals from Amazon Pay and HSBC Among Women Celebrated at the EPAwards

"Each of the entrants this year demonstrated the remarkable contribution they have made to their own organisations and to the wider FinTech sector this year."
Andrea Dunlop, Chair of the EPA

Some of the biggest names in UK FinTech celebrated the achievements of women in the payments sector on 10th October at the 11th annual Emerging Payments Awards.

Chief among the trophies handed out at the awards ceremony at The Hilton, Park Lane, London on Wednesday 10th October was a celebration of the Outstanding Women in PayTech. Awarded in partnership with Visa, the accolade recognises and honours the rising female stars of the payments industry.

With this award, Visa and the Emerging Payments Association want to acknowledge and celebrate women who have made a significant impact on the industry, helping to challenge stereotypes, driving equality in financial services, and taking steps towards breaking the ‘glass ceiling’.

Impressed by the calibre of the nominees for the award this year, the Emerging Payments Association judging panel decided to award the coveted title of Outstanding Woman in PayTech to everyone on the shortlist.

The winners this year come from a diverse range of backgrounds in terms of their specialisms, their seniority and the type of company they work for. What they have in common, though, is the integral role they play as strategic components of the FinTech community.

Andrea Dunlop, Chair of the Emerging Payments Association, explained: “Each of the entrants this year demonstrated the remarkable contribution they have made to their own organisations and to the wider FinTech sector this year. From specialists in fraud and risk management, to experts in the legislation managing the way we pay, to communications professionals helping to spread the word about the latest innovations, all are playing an invaluable role in revolutionising the payment landscape in the UK and worldwide.”

Hugh Kingdon, Head of Business Development, UK & Ireland, added: “With this award we are proud to stand with the Emerging Payments Association in acknowledging and celebrating women who have made a significant impact in their workplace and the industry more widely. We are delighted to be able to celebrate those who, through their efforts, are helping to challenge stereotypes, drive equality in financial services, and are taking steps towards breaking the ‘glass ceiling’. This award is especially important as we seek to promote the outstanding women in our industry and drive towards greater empowerment and equality.

About the Emerging Payments Awards

The Emerging Payments Awards are the highlight of the payments innovation calendar in the UK, produced in association with the Emerging Payments Association. This year will be the Emerging Payments Awards eleventh year of celebrating the best of the best in the FinTech industry.

It celebrates innovation, collaboration and emerging payments by recognising companies that have made significant advances in how we pay today. As the payments industry has boomed, so have the awards. Last year over 200 companies from across the globe entered 20 categories which were assessed by 31 judges. The winners are announced in style at a glittering ceremony attended by over 700 of the industry’s most senior opinion-formers and decision-makers.
