Vulnerable Drivers Protected by New Car Breakdown Cover

247 Home Rescue today announces launch of new car breakdown cover plan designed to protect the UK's most vulnerable motorists.

Vulnerable Drivers Protected by New Car Breakdown Cover

"We think this provides really good value for money. We don't want to leave anyone stranded"

A Lancashire firm is taking on the AA and the RAC by offering cut-price car breakdown cover, while also protecting the UK's most vulnerable motorists.

Accrington headquartered 24|7 Home Rescue have this week expanded into the motoring market, having previously offered boiler and home appliance insurance.

Bosses at the firm say they want to take on the ‘big players’ in the vehicle breakdown industry by providing affordable plans with a personal touch.

This includes developing a new app which will use GPRS to detect where the customer has broken down - meaning help can be on its way as quickly as possible.

And in an industry first, they’re also rolling out a team of special ‘motorcycle chaperones’ to protect lone females, young children and the elderly.

Director Ranjen Gohri explained: “We’ve been in the home emergency cover industry for some time now, but felt there was a gap in what we could offer to our customers.

“While we’re able to give them cover for their boilers, plumbing, and kitchen appliances, we didn’t look outside of the home.

“That’s why we’ve launched a new package with the largest managed breakdown recovery network in the UK offering cover and roadside assistance.”

Basic packages start from as little as £2.47 per month and the first two months are being offered for free as an introductory offer.

Mr Gohri added: “We decided it was important to cover the vehicle, not the individual, which means the whole family is covered if the household’s car breaks down.

“By working with the largest network in the UK, we can respond to 90 per cent of calls within 30 seconds and recover from anywhere in the UK, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

“Our aim is to get to every customer within 45 minutes.

“And if you’ve got a child under five, are a lone woman or an elderly person, we will send a motorbike to your location within 15 minutes to wait with you before the van gets there, subject to the time of call out the location of the customer.

“We think this provides really good value for money. We don’t want to leave anyone stranded.”

As well as added reassurance by the roadside, 24|7 will also offer a smartphone app which, like taxi service Uber, shows you on a map exactly where the recovery van is.

Using GPRS the app will be able to locate the customer, and a ‘call’ button will tell the recovery centre where they are. Customers can then track the van’s movements.

Mr Gohri said: “We think these little extra touches will give customers added peace of mind which will set up apart from some of other big players in the industry.”

24|7 - unlike other companies - will also provide assistance if a customer accidentally puts the wrong fuel in their car.

Mr Gohri said: “A lot of insurance providers don’t cover miss-fuelling because it’s a ‘user error’.

“And when it is covered, it’s usually on the proviso that the vehicle isn’t driven - because you tend to fuel up, drive 10 miles, and then the damage is done. Insurers stay away from it.

“While we won’t fix the car, we will drive you to another location to get the fuel tank decontaminated.

“After all, we understand that accidents do happen.”

24|7 Home Rescue breakdown cover is offering an introductory offer which includes two months free. For more information visit 247homerescue.co.uk

Mr Gohri says they will answer 90% of calls within 30 seconds.

The network operators have incident scene training and all service engineers & technicians are certificated.

And 24|7 Home Rescue aims to get to 90% of breakdowns in under 45 minutes.
