A BUSINESS adviser in Bath has demonstrated confidence in his founding company – buying a part of the firm and taking on a broader development role across the region.

Richard Tidswell is one of half a dozen successful individual franchises to invest in Business Doctors – a support network dedicated to helping small and medium sized businesses fulfil their potential.

He now becomes a regional director covering the South West and owns a share of ten per cent of the business with the other new members.

Richard, who supports businesses across the Avon and Somerset area of the national network and is based in Queens Square, said: “I never wanted to be operating just at arm’s length but wanted to be more actively involved with the founders of Business Doctors - discussing ideas and having greater influence in how the business and services develop.

“I will also help drive recruitment to the firm, supporting the regional team and will act as a main point of contact with key stakeholders, including business organisations such as the Chambers of Commerce and the Local Enterprise Partnerships.”

Richard, who was ranked among Britain’s top 50 small business advisers by Enterprise Nation, left a successful career in multi-million pound corporations at a senior level three years ago to focus on working alongside small business owners.

Since then Richard has supported over 60 small and medium sized business owners and early stage entrepreneurs, across a whole range of sectors.

The married-father-of-two will now sit on the UK Management Board of Business Doctors and have a greater influence on the future of the company.

He said: “I was excited to have an opportunity to take a more vested interest in the future of Business Doctors UK-wide.

“At the same time, I can remain committed to ensuring Business Doctors remains relevant and focused on supporting the needs of businesses across the South West.

“With Business Doctors, I enjoy the freedom of being my own boss and running my own business, whilst still having a support network around me to bounce ideas off and collaborate with.”

Franchisor Rod Davies said: "As a franchisor this is the ultimate compliment: that your franchisees like what you are doing that much that they want to play a bigger part in it.”
